THE MARQUESAN HORSES

Twenty years ago, the creators of the ranch "la petite ferme" (the little farm) travelled to the Marquesas Islands, in search of ten horses to bring back to Huahine. The fourteen horses that now comprise our stable are, in fact, their direct descendants. Marquesan horses are renowned for their robust, hardy and gentle nature. They are suitable for inexperienced, as well as accomplished riders, and are perfectly adapted to the climate, (they grow a winter coat which seems incredible in view of the warm winter temperature). We use the "hackamore" system, a bridle without a bit, more comfortable for the horse and just as efficient. A clear demonstration will be given just prior to the tours.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TOURS

>  2 hours Riding (For beginners and experimented)

Leaves ranch twice a day : 

9 AM and 3 PM

After a short demonstration we head towards the beach, we can see Raiatea, Tahaa and Bora Bora. We go to the airport close to the "motu" Maeva, where we join the lake, and walk the horses along the water. This ride takes 1 1/2 -2 hours, depending on group level.
Recommended equipment : Long pants , closed shoes,  sunscreen. 

For the horses well-being, a maximum rider's weight of 90 kg (200 lbs) is observed.
